JEWELRY CARE
How can I take care of my jewelry? Plus

Though jewelry care varies depending on the material, here are some general tips to care for your jewelry:

  • Jewelry should be stored in a clean, dry place
  • Remove jewelry when washing hands, showering, exercising, or doing anything that involves moisture
  • Avoid exposure to chemicals like lotion, perfume, hairspray, etc.
  • Your jewelry should always be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off

See below for care tips specific to each material we offer.

925 Silver Jewelry Care Plus

925 Silver is also known as Sterling Silver. The 925 part comes from the material containing 92.5% pure silver. The reason why it's combined with an alloy is because 100% pure silver is too delicate and fragile to be fashioned into jewelry, making it prone to dents, bending, and scratches. 925 jewelry often has a "925" number stamped on the interior, indicating that the metal is 92.5% pure.

Just like all silver, 925 Silver may tarnish over time with exposure to oxygen. However, this isn't necessarily a bad thing! The metal itself won't be damaged. If you're wearing your 925 Silver Jewelry every day, they most likely won't get tarnished as the oils from our skin keep it from tarnishing. The tarnish usually happens when the jewelry is sitting around and not being worn frequently. If it does tarnish, it can easily go away with a polishing cloth to reveal the beautiful original shine of the silver! It's so satisfying to see all the black tarnish on the cloth ;)

Surgical Steel Jewelry Care Plus

Surgical Steel is also known as 316L Stainless Steel. The "L" stands for "low carbon", meaning it has a low carbon content than other types. making it less prone to corrosion and durable.

Surgical stainless steel jewelry is easy to clean and maintain. Unlike other metals that will tarnish or lose their shine over time, surgical stainless steel retains its original appearance with very minimal maintenance. Simply clean it with a soft/polishing cloth and mild soap and water!

Plated Brass Jewelry Care Plus

Plated brass is made by coating brass with a thin layer of metal that can be gold, rose gold, or silver. Though plated brass looks beautiful, it does require extra care to keep the plating intact for as long as possible!

Avoid contact with lotions, perfumes, oils, sweat, and harsh chemicals as these can reduce shine and damage the finish. We recommend your jewelry be the last thing you put on when heading out. When not worn, store your jewelry in a box or pouch.

If you have a known allergy to brass, please be aware when purchasing plated jewelry.
